In a context of accelerated routines and constant demands, stopping to listen and welcome has become an essential gesture. In this context, the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), in partnership with the Psychosocial Support and Monitoring Center (NAPsi), promoted on Wednesday morning (September 24th), the WORKSHOP on Clinical Management of Suicidal Ideation. The action integrates the activities of the Yellow September, a national campaign to value life.

Aimed at mental health professionals who work in the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), the meeting focused on the recognition of signs of psychological suffering, the strengthening of qualified listening and the development of clinical strategies for care and prevention in the institutional environment.

The event was led by Professor Maria Livia Tourinho Moretto, psychoanalyst and researcher at the Institute of Psychology of the University of the State of São Paulo (USP). With a careful approach, she highlighted the importance of understanding suffering from the uniqueness of each subject. According to the professor, suicide is not a logical act, but an expression of a pain that often does not find words.

"Anguish is an affection that does not deceive," she said. She also drew attention to the difference between listening to a story and interpreting an intention.

During the morning, we discussed clinical strategies of welcome, the impact of grief and the importance of caring also for those who remain after a loss.

“I want to thank you for the initiative of inviting me to speak on such an important and sensitive topic. This just shows the commitment of Esmat with the lives of people", said the professor.

A care that is structured in team

The psychiatrist of NAPsi, doctor Wordney Camarço, reinforced the importance of the theme. According to him, even in environments with good working conditions, such as the TJTO, the volume of tasks and self-charging can generate silent suffering.

“Our team requested this training because we have experienced complex situations on a daily basis. The objective is to improve care, broaden the view and strengthen technical performance", he commented.

The training was aimed specifically at professionals of NAPsi and the Health Space of the TJTO (Cesau), with the objective of improving clinical approaches in contact with people in mental suffering - even with those who verbalize suicidal ideation, are at imminent risk or in the process of grief.
