On March 12th and 14th, the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) held two classes of the workshop on Sustainability in Practice - waste management and conscious consumption of natural resources.

The event, which lasted 4 hours per class, aimed to provide knowledge about solid waste, selective collection and recycling, as well as providing the necessary support for the continuation of the Solidary Selective Collection Project within the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins.

Under the coordination of Justice Ângela Maria Ribeiro Prudente, the activities taught by facilitators Cinthia Barbosa Pires Azevedo and Welica Rodrigues Lemes Barros covered topics such as the management and integrated management of solid waste, collection and handling of organic waste, minimization, among others.

Participating in the activities were professional collaborators of the Judiciary and the Montana Company, who work in the pantry, cleaning, reception, gardening, carpentry and loading services in the buildings of the Court of Justice, the General Internal Affairs of Justice, the Palmas Forum, Esmat, the Center of Education for Children (CEI), Napsi, and Annexes I and II.

The Workshop is in line with the guidelines of the National Solid Waste Policy (Law No. 12.305 of 2010) and the Decree No. 10.936 of 2022, which regulate environmental education in solid waste management, helping to reduce the environmental, social and economic impacts caused by inadequate waste management.
