On the 6th floor of the NYC Building, in Times Square, the seminar on "Contemporary Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence in the Judicial System, in Law and in Business", held by the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of the Magistracy (Copedem), in partnership with the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) and Memory - Legal Memory Center, took place on Tuesday (August 6th).
The President of Copedem and General Director of Esmat, Justice Marco Villas Boas, was present during the opening ceremony along with the vice-President of Microsoft Brazil for the Public Sector, Allesandra Karine.
In his comments, Justice Marco stressed that the impression of Microsoft of the use of generative artificial intelligence in the judiciary was the best possible, precisely because of the prospect of opening up to broad dialogue and democratization of knowledge. He also mentioned the decision by the National Council of Justice (CNJ) to allow the use of AI tools, such as ChatGPT, in the preparation of procedural acts by Brazilian Judges.
The event brings together global experts and leaders from the legal and technology sectors to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the judicial system. Justice Angela Issa Haonat, Deputy Director of Esmat, and Justice Pedro Nelson de Miranda Coutinho also attended.
With the presence of the Director of Government Industry at Microsoft Latin America, Carlos Teixeira, and the Global CTO of Microsoft for the Public Sector, Dave Sloan, the morning programming focused on "Cases of Artificial Intelligence Use in Justice and Brazilian Government" and "Addressing Concerns in the Use of Cloud AI by the Public Sector". In the afternoon, some questions on the "Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence" were presented by the global Director of the Responsible Use of AI Office at Microsoft, Cass Matthews. In addition, the executive of Justice Accounts of Microsoft Brazil, Carlos Marques, also opened an "Open Session for Questions and Answers".
About the event
The seminar will take place in person in New York (USA), and it will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of Copedem, starting this Wednesday (August 7th) and on August 8th and 9th.
