4th Edition Of The General Internal Affairs At Universities Project Is Held In The City Of Palmas

Law students from the Federal University of the State of Tocantins (UFT) – campus of the city of Palmas part in the "General Internal Affairs at Universities" project on Tuesday (June 18th). With the theme of "The competences, challenges and achievements of the Justice Department of the State of and the relationship with the National Council of Justice (CNJ)", the 4th edition featured a lecture by Lívia Guimarães, who is studying for a master's degree in Judicial Provision and Human Rights (Esmat/UFT) and head of the CGJUS.

During the meeting, the official of the Judiciary emphasized the importance of the role of the General Internal Affairs of Justice in the monitoring, control, planning, supervision, guidance and disciplinary supervision of judicial services in the first degree of jurisdiction, highlighting the importance of Ordinary Corrections and the goals set out in the Action Plan for the 2023/2025 biennium. The chief of staff emphasized the structured planning of the CGJUS, which allows for better monitoring of the actions of the General Internal Affairs. "The Internal Affairs Department not only disciplines, but also plays a guiding and collaborative role. This administration has the motto on 'dialog and transparency' and with this in mind we seek to understand the process as a whole, from the actions to the involvement of the people, thus obtaining the answers needed to improve the provision of justice," she said.

The speaker also presented important projects and initiatives of the CGJUS, such as the Judicial Management Award and the Quality Award for Extrajudicial Offices, which recognize collaboration and innovation in the sector. She also mentioned the training promoted by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) and other specific actions, such as the research of the Judiciary that portrays the reality of the elderly population in the State of Tocantins and the work developed by the Center for Prevention and Land Regularization (Nupref).

"Since 2018, Nupref has been bringing citizenship to the community and guaranteeing the constitutional right to decent housing, with the delivery of full content certificates, which are land legitimization titles, duly registered in notary offices. More than 15,000 titles have already been delivered with the help of the Center. I would like to highlight the important partnerships we have for carrying out this work with the municipalities," said Lívia Guimarães.

General Internal Affairs of Justice at Universities

“"The General Internal Affairs at Universities” project plays a fundamental role in providing an important interface between the academic environment and the Judiciary. Initiatives like this broaden the knowledge of students on the workings of legal institutions, better preparing them for the job market and for the conscientious exercise of their profession," said Lívia Guimarães, head of the CGJUS office.

Professor Aline Sueli de Salles Santos, who holds a doctorate in law and teaches Legal Practice Laboratory V, highlighted the importance of direct contact between students and judicial professionals. "The idea of the practice courses is precisely to provide this intersection among legal practice environments, the market and the academic environment, for a productive exchange, a critical look and a contribution," she said. "This contact is fundamental for students to leave here with a different, broader and more critical view of how justice works," she added.

Professor Murillo Francisco Centeno, a State Prosecutor who was also present at the event, emphasized the importance of partnerships between institutions and universities. "It's essential that society and the academic community get to know the work of the General Internal Affairs Department. They carry out significant work, especially in the area of land regularization, which should be shared," he said.

For João Victor Noleto, a law student of the 9th year, the lecture was particularly relevant. "It was very important to learn about the work of the General Internal Affairs Department, because it brings the judiciary closer to the citizen. We often think it's only about litigation, but there's a correlation among several sectors," he commented.
