Second day of the I Seminar of Socio-environmental Management discusses the destination of financial resources and consortium activities in solid waste management in the State

The applications of resources for activities related to sanitation (supply of treated water, collection and treatment of sewage, storm drainage and solid waste management), in the municipalities of Tocantins, were the topics discussed in the second cycle of lectures of the I Socio-environmental Management Seminar: Networking for Solid Waste Management. In the presentations, the current situation of the 139 municipalities in the search for the elaboration of waste management and sanitation plans was widely discussed in four lectures over two days.

With hundreds of participants, the event, broadcasted as Distance Learning, was held by the Sustainable TO Network, through the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), the Superior School of the Judges of the State of  Tocantins (ESMAT) and the Center for Social and Environmental Management (NUGES). Among the topics addressed, the implementation and encouragement of the emergence of more associations of recyclable material collectors in the state were observed.

On the agenda of the presentations on Wednesday (16th), there were proposals for sharing waste management costs in neighboring municipalities in the state; scores in the Tax on Goods Circulation and Provision of Interstate and Intercity Transport and Communication Services (ICMS) Ecological; as well as proposals for public-private partnerships in the management of controlled landfills.

With mediation of Professor Doctor Gustavo Paschoal, the first lecture was given by Professor Doctor Aurélio Pessôa Picanço, who spoke about the impacts of the new regulatory framework of basic sanitation in solid waste management. The second lecture was given by Íkaro Peres Cunha, environmental engineer and control auditor of TCE/TO, who spoke about the Solid Waste Landscape in the Municipalities of the State of Tocantins, a technical and financial assessment from the point of view of TCE/TO.

The Sustainable TO Network includes the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-TO), the State Prosecution (MPE), the State Public Defender's Office (DPE), and the State University of Tocantins (UNITINS).
