COPEDEM starts the second day of the event with a panel on disruptive technologies

After the opening ceremony of the LIV Meeting of the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of Magistracy (COPEDEM), on the evening of Monday (14th), the event began the second day of activities with panels focused on the themes of innovation and disruptive technologies. The president of COPEDEM and General Director of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), Justice Marco Villas Boas, was the speaker on the panel about "The Impact of the New Disruptive Technologies on the Justice System". The magistrate pointed out that disruptive technologies impact the lives of citizens in such a way that they must be looked at with caution and rationality so that they can be used in the best possible way to promote justice, guaranteeing fundamental rights.

“The Judiciary acts as a mediator in the migration from the physical trial platform to the digital one. Therefore, it is essential that the actors of the Justice System are prepared for these changes and master the knowledge about the use of technologies. It is essential to know how to work in a hybrid way, because these technologies are here to stay," said Marco Villas Boas.

Justice also complemented that the place for study, scientific research, and deepening on these subjects is in the Judiciary Schools and Academies: "COPEDEM is a great intermediary, offering advice and guidance to the Schools in this new journey", he emphasized.

For the General Director of the Judiciary School of the State of Piauí (EJUD), Justice Sebastião Martins, the event has a great practical importance, because it brings contemporary guidelines for discussions, contributing to modify and improve the way of bringing justice to society, with more celerity and transparency. "The assertive use of these new technologies results in a more efficient and resolutive Judiciary, focused on the citizens", he added.

The LIV Meeting of the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of Magistracy (COPEDEM) has a partnership with the School of the Judges of the State of Piauí-Esmepi and the Judiciary School of the State of Piauí-Ejud. The event continues throughout Tuesday (15th) with panels and discussions about the impact of new technologies on the Judiciary.
