The general director of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) and president of the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of the Magistracy (COPEDEM), Justice Marco Villas Boas, participated on December 3rd in the round of conversation on "Challenges and Perspectives of the Training of Magistrates", held during the International Meeting of Schools of the Judges in the city of Brasilia (DF).
The activity was part of the programming commemorating the 10th anniversary of the National School for the Training and Improvement of Magistrates of the Military Justice of the Union (Enajum) and brought together representatives of national and international institutions, with a focus on the strengthening of judicial training and the sharing of educational practices.
During his speech, Justice Marco stressed the centrality of continuous and permanent training in the development of skills required of the contemporary Judiciary. Defended the internalization of educational actions and the expansion of its capillarity, in order to reach all the judicial units in a systematic and integrated way.
In addressing the impacts of new technologies on Justice, the president of Copedem drew attention to the need for courts and training schools to accompany the emergence of tools such as Artificial Intelligence with responsibility, ethics and impartiality.
“The incorporation of emerging technologies is not only a technical requirement, but also an ethical imperative to ensure decisions that are fair, transparent and aligned with fundamental rights", he pointed out.
In the assessment of the general director of Esmat, judicial and magistracy schools play a key role in this transformation scenario. "It is up to them to promote innovative practices, strengthen public governance and prepare magistrates and civil servers for the challenges of an increasingly digital, complex and evidence-based Judiciary," he concluded.
The panel was moderated by the judge of the Military Justice of the Union Natascha Maldonado and it also had the participation of judge Rodrigo Gonçalves, assistant of the Presidency of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), and judge Flávia Pessoa, of the National School of Labor Magistracy (Enamat).
The programming of the event, which continued until December 4th, included debates on International Cooperation, Artificial Intelligence, Fight against Organized Crime and Internationalization of the Training of Magistrates.
