
The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) has prepared an extensive programming of activities for the month of October. Various courses and events will be held for the continuing education of magistrates, civil servers, and other professionals who work in partnership with the Justice System.
To facilitate access to information, this is the first of two articles providing a complete overview of the planned educational activities. This first article covers the institutional events for the month. The course schedule will be detailed in a separate publication and it can be accessed at this link.
Although the XVIII International Congress on Human Rights will only take place on November 12th, 13th, and 14th, it is already part of the October calendar due to the call for papers. Submissions of expanded abstracts for presentation during the event, which theme this year is “The Future of Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” are open until October 24th. October began with the Third Seminar on the Elderly in the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins: Justice, Care, and Ancestry, held yesterday (October 1st) in the auditorium of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO). The event brought together experts from different fields to discuss issues related to the right to care, mental health, and the challenges of public policies aimed at elderly populations, with an emphasis on indigenous and traditional communities. Events calendar
On Thursday, October 2nd, Esmat will host the WORKSHOP on Collective Elaboration of Operational Flow in Cases of Sexual Harassment, Moral Harassment and Discrimination. The activity is part of the Justice in Dialogue project, which aims to foster an institutional culture based on respect for diversity, listening, and confronting discriminatory practices.
On October 6th (next Monday), the II Meeting of Registrars, Notaries, and the General Internal Affairs of Justice of the State of Tocantins will be held. The event will take place in a hybrid format, with in-person activities in the auditorium of the TJTO and live streaming on the YouTube channel of Esmat. The event is aimed at magistrates, civil servers, secretaries of forums, registrars, notaries, and representatives of extrajudicial registries. From the 6th to the 10th, the District of Cristalândia will host two events aimed at promoting mental health in the workplace: the WORKSHOP on “How to work, relate, and keep emotional health” and the WORKSHOP on “Social participation and its influence on health.” Both activities are part of the Health Care Program of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins (PAS).
On October 7th, 14th, and 21st, the third and final class of the Literary Workshops of 2025 will be held, with the theme on “Gender and Sexualities.” The meetings will take place virtually, always at 7 p.m., with Psychologist Cristina Silvana da Silva Vasconcelos as mediator. The work chosen for reading and debate is AS MALDITAS (The Cursed Ones), by the Argentinian writer Camila Sosa Villada, recognized for her in-depth exploration of themes such as Identity, Resistance, and Marginalization.
The workshops will conclude with an in-person cultural sarau on October 22nd, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Esmat. The programming will feature a round of conversation discussion, artistic interventions, a presentation by Suça Group, and the participation of Master Patricinho, representative of the Quilombola People of the district of Chapada de Natividade.
On October 9th, the II Voluntary Deliver Webinar will be held with the theme on “Flow and responsibilities of the network.” The activity focuses on the training of professionals who work with children and mothers in the context of the Voluntary Deliver Project, in accordance with the Resolution No. 485 of 2023. The facilitator will be Angélica Gomes da Silva, PhD in Social Work, university professor, and social worker at the Court of Justice of the state of Minas Gerais (TJMG). Starting on October 13th, registrations will be open for the Practical Workshop on Integral Health: Mental and Cognitive Health, which will be held on the 29th and 30th of the same month. The activity will be open to the public and it aims to provide an experiential learning opportunity using the dough of Dr. Bhorest, through the reading of mental waves in therapeutic workshops. Closing out the month, on October 22nd and 23rd, the event on “Interfaces among Justice System, Mental Health and Socio-Education: Strategies for the Guarantee of Rights” will be held. The programming, aimed at professionals in the fields of Justice, Health, Social Assistance, researchers, and those interested in the topic, will take place in the auditorium of the TJTO with live streaming. The event will feature conferences, rounds of conversation, and panels on public policy, mental health of adolescents in conflict with the law, and intersectoral action.
