The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) received on Wednesday (October 1st) professors and students from the National Technological University of South Lima (UNTELS) for a technical visit to the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence (LIIARES). The agenda, held in conjunction with the Course on Electrical Engineering of the Federal University of the State of Tocantins (UFT) reinforced the academic-scientific exchange between Brazil and Peru, focusing on applied research, human resources training and joint projects in AI, automation, systems and sustainability.
On behalf of UFT, Professor Marilene Andreia Mantovani, coordinator of the Course on Electrical Engineering, highlighted the strategic nature of the institutional approach and the potential for binational projects in areas such as Machine Learning, Intelligent Electric Networks and Open Innovation. For the professor, the meeting proved to be extremely fruitful, providing a valuable exchange of experiences, sharing best practices and identifying strategic areas for future partnerships, especially in the course of Electrical Engineering.
"It was with great honor and enthusiasm that the Federal University of the State of Tocantins, in particular the Course on Electrical Engineering, received the distinguished commission from the National Technological University of South Lima. This visit represented a significant milestone and a crucial step in strengthening academic and scientific cooperation and exchange between our institutions and nations," he said.
For the executive director of Esmat, Ana Beatriz de Oliveira Pretto, receiving the UNTELS delegation at LIIARES reinforces the vocation of Esmat for international cooperation and responsible innovation.
“By bringing applied research in artificial intelligence closer to the justice ecosystem, we expand training opportunities for magistrates, civil servers and students, and build lasting bridges with UFT and our partners from Peru. This technical dialogue strengthens joint projects, respects ethical principles and places the state of Tocantins on the map of evidence-based public solutions", she argued.
During the visit, the delegation met the LIIARES laboratories, dialogued with technical teams about cases of use of AI in the justice ecosystem, consulted periodicals and editorial collections and aligned possibilities for student and professor exchange. In her testimony, Professor Margarita Fredesvinda Murillo Manrique (Electrical Engineering/UNTELS) highlighted the relevance of the experience.
“We came from UNTELS and visited the academy of magistracy. We have seen the laboratories, especially where studies in artificial intelligence are being developed, which will contribute much to our knowledge. We met the ESMAT Journal to learn more about Brazil and Tocantins, and we will visit the library and other spaces that will help us bring contributions to our country", reinforced.
