Esmat Takes Experiences Of The State Of Tocantins To The 30th Abed International Congress On Distance Education

The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) is taking part in the 30th ABED International Congress on Distance Education (CIAED), taking place from May 7th to 10th in the city of Curitiba (PR). Representing the institution at the event are Maria Luiza Nascimento, the Postgraduate coordinator, and João Lucas Rabelo, a civil server, both from the Distance Learning Center of the School.

Promoted by the Brazilian Distance Education Association (ABED), the Congress brings together educational researchers, specialists and managers from all over the country and abroad to debate innovation, inclusion, regulation and trends in distance education. The highlight of the edition of this year is the internationalization of distance education, with activities in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

A national benchmark in the field of distance learning, CIAED has played a historic role in consolidating the modality in Brazil. In this edition, as well as lectures and debates on innovation, inclusion and quality in education, the Congress is discussing the creation of a Working Group of Schools of Government (EGovs), with the proposal of setting up a committee to coordinate initiatives in the public sector in the future.

During her participation, Maria Luiza presented the structure of Esmat and recounted the challenges faced in the accreditation process of the School, both in the face-to-face and distance learning modalities. In her speech, she highlighted CIAED as a strategic space for dialog and institutional coordination, and emphasized the importance of specific regulatory frameworks for Schools of Government, given the specific challenges faced by these institutions in the accreditation process.

“CIAED is a space for dialog among educators, managers, researchers and all those involved in education. It is also a space for contacts and networking with national and international players in distance education and dialog with the institutions that regulate and supervise distance education in Brazil. Distance education is transversal to learning processes and one of the important ways of accessing the technological transformations that are taking place. Esmat is a benchmark in corporate education and it is seeking accreditation to offer postgraduate courses at a distance, given that civil servers and magistrates are located in different regions of our immense state of Tocantins,” she said.
