National Secretary For Human Rights Receives Medallion From The Superior School Of The Judges Of The State Of Tocantins

The National Secretary for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights, Bruno Renato Nascimento Teixeira, was awarded the Medallion of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat). The honor was awarded in recognition of his significant contribution to the promotion and defense of human rights, as well as his encouragement of good practices and dedication to the protection of citizens in a ceremony held on Wednesday (March 20th). 

The awarding of the Medallion was made official by the Administrative Act No. 050 of March 20th, 2024, signed by Justice Marco Villas Boas, General Director of Esmat. The act highlights the relevance of the services provided by Bruno Teixeira in defense of human rights and citizenship, highlighting his work in a transversal, intersectional, participatory manner and with respect for diversity.

During the institutional visit, the Secretary was welcomed by the General Director, Justice Marco Villas Boas, and by the 1st Deputy Director, Justice Ângela Issa Haonat. In his speech, the Secretary showed enthusiasm about the progress of the Stricto Sensu Professional Master's Degree program in Judicial Provision and Human Rights, developed in partnership with the Federal University of the State of Tocantins (UFT).

About the Secretary

Bruno Renato Nascimento Teixeira was Director of the National Human Rights Ombudsman Department of the Secretariat for Human Rights of the Presidency of the Republic between 2011 and 2015. He has a law degree from the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB) since 2008.

About the Medallion

The awarding of the Esmat Medallion is governed by the Resolution 001 of April 1st, 2005, which established the honor, and by the Resolution 300 of November 1st, 2018, which ratified the decision of the Institutional and Academic Council of Esmat. The act entered into force on the date of its publication. The award of the Esmat Medallion represents the recognition of the institution of those who stand out in the promotion and defense of human rights, encouraging the continuation of these practices and the strengthening of citizenship for the benefit of the population.
