Abstract
This article discusses how Judith Butler's thinking allows us to criticize ontological assumptions of the monogamous system as a normative regime, which supports exclusivist, proprietary and binaristic relationships expressed by the notion of couple. Following the conceptual articulations proposed by Butler, possibilities for deconstruction will be presented, both subversive and non-violent, within the matrix of heteronormativity and mononormativity. The Brazilian case will be mobilized in order to understand, in the light of Butler's ideas, the issue of the fight for the right to same-sex unions and non-monogamous unions. The cases presented of same-sex and non-monogamous unions indicate the complexity of resorting to state solutions, as well as the reinforcement of practices of erasing non-monogamous unions in Brazil.References
