The School of Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) held this Friday afternoon (29th) the certification ceremony for 61 new specialists of the second class of Lato Sensu Post-Graduate Studies in Judicial Practice, a theoretical part of the Legal Residency Program.   Due to the health restrictions of the pandemic, the program's activities planned for 2020 took place remotely, through communication platforms, as well as the postgraduate defense stands. The certification ceremony also took place virtually.

According to the President of the Court of Justice, Judge Helvécio de Brito Maia Neto, the conclusion of the second class of the Legal Residency Program represents the victory of 61 young people who, still in 2019, recently graduated in law, took the first step in their professional lives when they were selected by the School of Judges of the State of Tocantins to participate in this important Program. "It was two years of a journey in which each resident showed bravery and determination in the effort to start and not give up, even with all the challenges that came along the way, like the pandemic, which changed our routine and restricted our daily activities. 2020 was a historic year, because it tested our resilience and made us stronger, because, even with all the difficulties, we beat it," he stressed.

For Esmat's General Director, Judge Marco Villas Boas, the adversities that occurred in 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, have caused the School to intensify its virtual activities quickly, considering the investments that had already been made in technology. "This is our mission, and it has been accomplished even with the difficulties imposed by distance. We did not stop the activities because of this situation; on the contrary, our activities were more intense. Esmat fulfills its role, which is to form the servers of the Judiciary of Tocantins. I am sure that these new specialists are prepared, counting on better conditions to compete in the labor market. And to compete in the best positions, either in the public or private sector, with proven capacity", he stressed.

According to the 2nd Assistant Director of Esmat's Course Council and Superintendent of the Legal Residency Program, Judge José Ribamar Mendes Júnior, the second class was started in 2019. "During these two years, you prepared yourselves, and we at Esmat congratulate ourselves because we won a bigger challenge, that of achieving one more Lato Sensu qualification during the pandemic, and this was by the strength of God and also by our will. My wish is that you can professionally put into practice the lessons learned during the course, throughout your lives," he said.

In his speech, Judge Roniclay Alves de Moraes, coordinator of the Graduate Course in Judicial Practice, enthusiastically ratified the students' journey during the course. "Being part of Esmat is a reason for pride, and I would like you to have this feeling and the absolute certainty that you have integrated one of the best schools in Brazil. This course has prepared all of you to now face this life that unveils everyone," he said.

Master teacher Glacielle Borges Torquato congratulated the students on their certification and commitment to the Program. "To my dear students, it is a moment of great joy to be sharing with you this festive moment of certification celebration, because your effort and dedication really paid off, I feel very proud to be here witnessing this moment. This certification includes each one of you in a select group with the potential to promote great transformations in society, because only education can promote social, economic and cultural transformation. It is a source of great pride and joy for me, as a teacher, to witness this unique and special moment in the life of each one of you," he said.

For the specialist Janael Ribeiro, a representative of the Postgraduate students, the program has given people from the most varied origins and localities in the State the opportunity to find a vocation in the legal world. "I also take this opportunity to ask this institution to improve and continue with this program, as there are countless future doctors, masters, specialists, professors, magistrates and jurists around us waiting only for the opportunity that separates them from success", he said.

For the specialist Lívia Zaniolo, resident representative, the residency program showed a world with many possibilities. "Sharing knowledge is the best way to learn, especially if this sharing can be done during the preparation of the minutes. The residency allowed us not only to learn from our magistrates and magistrates, but also to learn from the notary public servers, advisors and other officials of the Judiciary, because we saw that, in the justice system, there is no knowing more or knowing less: there are different knowledges," she recalled.

The Graduate Program in Judicial Practice is part of the Legal Residency Program (PRJud), which has the general objective of provoking reflections, in relation to values, principles and constitutional rules, in order to review traditional models of justice and present new paradigms and new outlines, providing each participant with the necessary instruments for the full exercise of citizenship and improvement of their future professional activity.
