Esmat participates in service activities in commemoration of the indigenous peoples' day

To celebrate the Day of the Indigenous Peoples, celebrated on April 19th, the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, through the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), participated in the activities of the Socio-Political Inclusion Program of the Indigenous Peoples, held at the Xerente Indigenous High School Center, in the municipality of Tocantínia, about 70 kilometers from the city of Palmas. Approximately 400 members of the Xerente people participated in the activity.

The event had several activities and services offered by partner agencies, such as the Regional Electoral Court, the Public Defender's Office, the Public Safety Office, the Brazilian Army, the Culture Office, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Civil Registry Office. On the occasion, there were lectures on "Public policies for the well-living of the indigenous communities" given by employees of the National Indian Foundation (FUNAI), Center for Integrative and Complementary Practices (CEPIC/UFT) and Reception with risk classification, verification of vital signs, educational practices and immunization by technicians from the Federal University of the State of Tocantins (UFT).

According to Magistrate Wellington Magalhães, the activities, besides celebrating the struggle and resistance of the native Brazilian people, promoted the offer of several social services. "The program of socio-political inclusion of the indigenous people is a realization of the Regional Electoral Court of the State of Tocantins, in partnership with many other institutions, even the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins. Everything was planned in a detailed way, so that we could meet the main needs of the communities, guaranteeing the effectiveness of the rights of citizenship of the indigenous peoples of our State", he affirmed. The territory of the Xerente people is located in the municipality of Tocantínia, covering a total of 30 villages.
