Round Of Conversation Promotes Active Listening And Reflection On Mental Health And Gender In The TJTO

Focusing on the appreciation of listening, diversity and mental health in the institutional environment, the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), in partnership with the Directorate of People Management Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), promoted on Wednesday afternoon (Nov 19th), another initiative of the project on Justice in Dialogue, this time with the round table on "Mental Health, Gender and its Devices".

The activity was carried out in a virtual format and brought together civil servers, magistrates and trainees, proposing a qualified listening space, exchange of knowledge and critical reflections on the effects of social gender devices in the subjective construction and mental health of women and men.

The round was facilitated by researcher and Psychologist Valeska Zanello. In her speech, she historically contextualized the concept of "gender", explained its multiple layers and presented the so-called "gender devices", such as the loving, maternal and effectiveness, which operate socially to shape behaviors and subjectivities, from stereotypes of femininity and masculinity.

The initiative is part of the project on Justice in Dialogue, developed by the Division of Projects and Contracts Management of the Directorate of People Management (Digep) of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO).

During the opening of the event, the social worker and head of the Division, Tânia Mara Alves Barbosa, highlighted that the project comes from dialogue and that its objective is to provide fundamental reflections on historical, philosophical and sociological dimensions, to discrimination and forms of oppression, valuing respect for diversity.

The civil server also stressed the importance of addressing issues such as gender, feminism, harassment and mental health in workplaces, promoting a more equitable and welcoming institutional environment. The director of Digep, Paula Jorge Catalan Maia, also participated in the meeting and reinforced the relevance of the partnership with Esmat.

“This moment dialogues directly with our people management policy. It is an opportunity for exchange, generous listening, courage and mutual learning. That everyone can leave here more prepared to deal with human diversity in a more empathetic and respectful way", she pointed out.
