ESMAT And IESS Hold IV Symposium On Health Judicialization

The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), in partnership with the Institute for Supplementary Health Studies (IESS), will hold the IV Symposium on “Law and Health: the Judicialization of Health” on August 1st. The meeting will take place in the auditorium of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), starting at 8 a.m., and it will bring together specialists to discuss the impacts and challenges of the issue.

The aim of the Symposium is to foster technical and legal dialog between Law and Health, broadening reflections on good practices, legal certainty and the effectiveness of the health system in Brazil.

Confirmed speakers include Justices Ricardo Villas Bôas Cueva and Antonio Saldanha Palheiro of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), as well as authorities and professionals of national and international prominence:

  • Paulo Rebello, former director-president of the National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS);
  • Clênio Jair Schulze, federal judge and researcher in Constitutional Justice;
  • João Pedro Gebran Neto, federal judge and coordinator of the National Health Forum of the CNJ;
  • Rogério Scarabel, lawyer and former substitute president of the ANS;
  • Andréa Bergamini, specialist in supplementary health regulation;
  • Carla de Figueiredo Soares, president of the ANS;
  • George Marmelstein, federal judge and PhD in Philosophy of Law;
  • Sabrina Cristina Meneses Dalla Pria Mazetto, psychiatrist;
  • José Luiz Toro da Silva, a jurist specializing in medical law.
