Esmat Promotes Event On Combating Corruption And Money Laundering

On Tuesday morning (November 26th), the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) held the event on Combating Corruption and Money Laundering, with the aim of promoting the technical and legal improvement of magistrates, prosecutors, lawyers, delegates and civil servers in the justice system.

The meeting was led by Prosecutor Cássio Roberto Conserino, who addressed topics such as passive and active corruption, as well as the crime of money laundering. In his remarks, Judge Wellington Magalhães, Deputy Director of Esmat and coordinator of the activity, highlighted the relevance of the training in the national scenario.

“Training on this subject is particularly important, given the growing number of police operations and court cases related to money laundering in Brazil. This scenario requires law practitioners to have in-depth technical knowledge and a strategic vision in order to face the challenges ahead. That's why this event is more than necessary,” he said.

As well as discussing crimes against public administration, the lecture also addressed the autonomy of the crime of money laundering, the role of financial institutions and the importance of compliance practices. The Prosecutor also highlighted the current and future challenges in combating these crimes, reinforcing the need for technical preparation for effective action.
