According to Esmagis-MT, more than 500 people are taking part in the Congress, which ends this Friday (June 21st) with a wide-ranging programming of lectures given by renowned jurists from all over the country.

Opening

At the opening of the event, the participants held a silence of minute in memory of the retired Justice Paulo Inácio Dias Lessa, who died on Wednesday (June 19th) as a result of a heart attack.

Justice Clarice Claudino da Silva, President of the Court of Justice of the State of Mato Grosso (TJMT), highlighted the relevance of the theme of the congress for society as a whole. "Administrative Improbity is a topic that the more we debate, explore and get to know in depth, the easier it makes life for those who are managers, the easier it makes life for society as a whole and also for overseeing the acts carried out by those who are responsible for managing our powers, our institutions, the public service in general. It's a very strong responsibility, and society has the right to know and contribute, just as the control bodies do," he said.

The General Coordinator of the congress, the General Director of Esmagis-MT, Justice Helena Maria Bezerra Ramos, emphasized the union of efforts to hold the event. "I would like to thank President Sergio Ricardo immensely for giving us this space and the entire structure of the Court of Auditors, in this partnership between the Schools of Auditors and the Judiciary. It's good because the Court of Auditors has a relationship with Mayors and municipal managers. Today, we have many Mayors, many city council Attorneys taking part because it is in the interest of every manager."

One of the organizers of the congress, Judge Bruno D'Oliveira Marques, stressed the importance of the event for providing a debate on the law that affects society so much. "The topic of Administrative Improbity is of special relevance to society because the Law of Improbity aims to protect ethics, probity in the exercise of functions and therefore sanction those public officials who act in disagreement with these moral and ethical values that society expects from good public managers. We intend to discuss this together with Judges, members of the State Prosecution and the Public Advocacy".

Councilor Sérgio Ricardo, President of the TCE-MT, congratulated the Court of Justice of the State of Mato Grosso on the initiative. "This meeting is very useful, we'll have the entire judicial system here and we from the Court of Auditors because we're also operators of the law, we also judge, so it's a very important moment to discuss the new law on improbity, which will greatly improve public management in the country."

Representing the Mayors of the State of Mato Grosso, Mr. Leonardo Bortolin, President of the Association of Municipalities of the State of Mato Grosso (AMM), stressed the interest of public managers in the congress. "There are dozens of municipal Attorneys, Legal Advisors, magistrates who are gathered here seeking guidance. The legislation is being updated, so it's necessary to include them in the training and knowledge".

Justice Nélio Stábile, from the Judicial School of the Court of Justice of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul (Ejud-MS), also praised the congress. "It's extremely important, not only because it's the first one, but also because of the excellence of the speakers who will be here. The Judicial School of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, under the management of Justice Helena, has been very active and it is a point of reference for other States, standing out for the quality of the courses it offers. So we were very pleased to be invited to this first congress on administrative improbity and we hope to reap good fruits to take back to our State."

The 1st Regional Congress on Administrative Improbity is organized by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Mato Grosso (Esmagis-MT), the Judicial School of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul (Ejud-MS), the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), the Judicial School of the Court of Justice of the State of Goiás (Ejug) and the Judicial Training School of the Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories (EjuDFT), with institutional support from the TCE-MT.
