Event Opens Dialogue On Possibilities And Use Of Generative AI In The Public Sector

A mark in the integration between technological development and the public sector was reached on Wednesday afternoon (August 16th), with the holding of the "Gartner Meeting on Tocantins Brazil AI Genrative & CyberSecurity for Public Sector 2023", an event organized by the Information Technology Directorate of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) and which brought together civil servers, magistrates, trainees and employees of the Judiciary.

Held in the auditorium of TJTO, the meeting sought to deepen understanding of how technology can be used to benefit citizens, delving into Generative AI and Cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity and the complex challenge of innovating in the services provided to citizens

The first talk, given by Vitor Mori, a Gartner Relationship Specialist, brought up the importance of cybersecurity in the context of the public sector. Mori emphasized the dynamism of virtual threats, which are constantly renewing themselves by adopting new approaches.

The Power of Generative AI

With the stage occupied by Ricardo Machado, executive partner at Gartner, the second talk emphasized the power of Generative AIs, focusing on their transformative possibilities and their use in the public sector.

Machado clarified some aspects of the dimensions that govern artificial intelligence - such as ChatBots and GPT Chat. During the talk, the executive also commented on data preservation and its relationship with Generative AIs, as well as stressing the ability of these AIs to be trained for decision-making. In the words of Machado, 

"(...) from content and objects and interaction, Generative Artificial Intelligence generates new artifacts, new creations. And where can this be applied? In a variety of contexts, in a variety of ways. The key lies in how it is used," he explained.

With regard to the global use of artificial intelligence, the speaker stressed that this is an unstoppable and universal movement. "This is a worldwide movement, there is no stopping it; what needs to be done is for us to learn how to deal with it better," he said.

Digital Transformation and New Opportunities in the Government

Closing the event, the speakers gathered to discuss "Digital Transformation and New Opportunities in Government". Gilberto Barata, Regional Director of Gartner Brazil, moderator of the panel, pointed out the complexities of the technological transformations underway and provoked reflection on how each of us fits into this new panorama that is constantly evolving.
