CNJ will promote the first international conference on electronic monitoring - technology, ethics and guarantee of rights

The National Council of Justice (CNJ) will hold, on June 21st – 23rd, 2023, the first International Conference on Electronic Monitoring - Technology, Ethics and Guarantee of Rights. The unprecedented event in the country will take place in person at the CNJ auditorium, with simultaneous broadcasting on the YouTube of CNJ. Registration must be made through the link https://formularios.cnj.jus.br/monitoracao-eletronica/, with a certificate issued at the end.

The meeting will be a space for discussions about the challenges for the qualification of electronic monitoring in the Brazilian context in the light of international experiences, debating current issues such as the role of new technologies in supporting the monitoring and issues concerning the future prospects in the application of the modality. Among the speakers are Ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice (STJ), representatives of the CNJ, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety, as well as Judges, researchers, and members of civil society.

The event is part of the activities of the Making Justice program, run by the CNJ with UNDP and support from the National Secretariat for Penal Policies (Senappen), to focus on challenges in the field of deprivation of liberty.
