Organized crime and the fight to locate missing persons in Latin America were discussed in an international event promoted by the United Nations

The analysis of the origins and actions of drug trafficking, organized crime, corruption, money laundering, terrorism, faction formations criticized us and organizations with hierarchical structures that work as a network in Latin America, as well as the inefficiency of the government of Ecuador in the search for missing persons were the topics discussed on the afternoon of the second day of the "First Latin American Forum on Human Security for Human Rights and XII International Congress on Human Rights on factors of Human Promotion and Sustainability.

In the first lecture, given by Myrna Villegas Díaz, the professor of the Department of Penal Sciences of the Law School of the University of Chile and project officer of the Permanent Committee of Latin America for Crime Prevention (COPLAD), ILANUD Program, spoke about "Security and Human Rights in the Fight against Organized Crime and Money Laundering”.

In his second talk, Mr. Absalón Campoverde, president of the National Assembly Comission of Ecuador for the Attention to the Cases of Missing Persons, father of young Juliana Campoverde, who disappeared in 2012 in the city of Quito, Ecuador, spoke about the "Contribution of the Parliament for the Increase of Human Security in Latin America". In an affectionate manner, the speaker recalled the difficulties faced by Ecuadorian families and other Latin American families who have missing persons in following up and having news of police investigations on the causes and location of missing people.

The event, which continues this Wednesday (21st), is organized by the Latin American Permanent Committee on Crime Prevention (COPLAD) - Program of the United Nations Latin American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and Treatment of Offenders (ILANUD) - which is based in San Jose, Costa Rica, and as international partners the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of the Magistracy (COPEDEM) and the School of Judges of Tocantins (ESMAT), through the Graduate Program Stricto Sensu in Jurisdiction and Human Rights (UFT/ESMAT).
