TJTO promotes “You Can Save a Life” Workshop: how to act when facing a cardiac arrest

In allusion to the Day of The Heart, it will be held on Wednesday (September 29th), at 5 pm, the Workshop: You Can Save a Life: How to act when facing a cardiac arrest. An action proposed by the Health Center in partnership with the Judiciary Power of the State of Tocantins and the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT).

The objective of the event is to make magistrates, employees and collaborators aware of how to act at the momento f a cardiorespiratory arrest – CRA – and to talk about the use of the AED (automatic external defibrillator), which is installed on the wall of the Court’s entrance hall.

Cardiovascular diseases can affect the heart and blood vessels, highlighting coronary artery disease, which involves chest pain and acute myocardial infarction, being the largest cause of morbidity and mortality in the world. In Brazil, according to the Ministry of Health, about 300 thousand individuals per year suffer Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), with death occuring in 30% of these cases.

The main risk factors for cardiovascular events are: hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia (high levels of fat in the blood), family history, stress, smoking, obesity, sedentary lifestyle and thyroid diseases. The use of illicit drugs, such as cocaine, can also lead to acute myocardial infarction.
