Challenges of the economic market in the face of the emergence of cryptocurrencies is debated in a Webinar promoted by Copedem

With debates that presented the historical context of the world economy starting from this barter, the use of noble metals as payment, the emergence of paper money and finally the use of cryptocurrency, which does not obey the tariff control by organ or country in specific, were discussed in a webinar promoted by the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of Judges (COPEDEM) in partnership with the National School of the Judges (ENM), with the support of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), under the Coordination of Memory - Legal Memory.

In the Digital Economy Webinar - Challenges and Security in Crypto - several opinions were presented, not only the benefits, but also the challenges and possible threats about the use of this new format of payments and receipts. The event was attended by Minister Marcelo Navarro Ribeiro Dantas, of the Superior Court of Justice; Mr. Reinaldo Rabelo, CEO of Bitconi Market, Mr. Isac Costa, professor and consultant in Regulation and Financial Innovation; Ms. Vanessa Butalla, executive director of Legal, Compliance and Regulation of the 2TM Group.

The event was moderated by Judge Ruy Florence, of the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso do Sul in his speech at the opening of the solemnity, Judge Marco Villas Boas (TJTO), president of Copedem and general director of Esmat, recalled that the choice of the theme is interesting due to the uncertainties about the emission and circulation of cryptocurrencies inherent to the sovereignty of the State. "We observe that the regulation of international flows and capital is necessary, since there are benefits, but many concerns mainly to this new monetary expression of what can be used for remuneration and for buying and selling the market. The issue leaves us concerned and challenges us to reflect. Since the advent of the internet, the intensification of the market, without limits and borders, made the states adapt to new forms of capitalism", he stated.

To close the event, the Webinar was attended by Judge Caetano Levi (TJMG), President-Director of the National School of the Judges. There are thousands of cryptoactive in circulation, and their legal qualification is still a challenge in all countries, so that it is not known, in advance, who is the responsible entity for disciplining the service providers; require the provision of information; and obey the commands of the State. The picture becomes even more complex with the proliferation of financial fraud, the emergence of new forms of money laundering; and the difficulty in supervising and executing the assets of individuals in companies.
