Opening of the 88th meeting of the permanent college of the general magistrates discusses land regularization in the country and innovation in the judiciary

The scenario of innovation in the Brazilian Judiciary, with integration of the citizens with the Justice System, as well as the celerity in the implementation of innovation laboratories, aiming at improving the judiciary services, fomenting the culture, leadership and talent, as well as the debates about the land regularization were the themes presented in the first part of the 88th Meeting of the Permanent College of General Magistrates (ENCOGE). The solemnity, held virtually, is organized in this edition by the General Internal Affairs of Justice of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) with transmission through teh Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins.

At the opening of the event, Judge Etelvina Maria Sampaio Felipe, president of the Permanent College of General Magistrates of the Courts of Brazil (CCOGE), reminded everyone of the momento f the technological update of the Brazilian Judiciary before facing the pandemic, but with the need to look and act for human issues. “We are experiencing this great technological transformation of the Judiciary, but we can not lose the notion that we are human and that we judge human beings. The true mission of the Judiciary is not only to enforce the Law, but above all to guarantee the dignity of the human being, to rescue citizenship, and to promote social peace,” he stressed.

Next, the Justice Paulo Sérgio Velten Pereira, General Magistrate of the State of Maranhão and president of the MATOPIBA-MG Land Magistrates Forum, which has become a national forum, involving all of the internal affairs of the country, reminded that the expansion of the forum is necessary due to the fact that land regularization is present in the entire country. Currently, the MATOPIBA-MG region comprises 31 micro-regions and 337 municipalities. “The absence of landholding regularization affects the country as a whole. For this, there is a need for the expansion of the forum. I want to say to the colleagues from the other states that we managed to awake the interest of all the mayors, public administrators for the need of intense concern of the land regularization, not only the rural one, assuring tranquility for traditional communities present in the region; we also intensified the urban land regularization, the social reurbanization, because we identified that the problem of the countryside was transferred to the cities. MATOPIBA-MG is considered the new eldorado. The forum brought the ideal of Justice to the region, because we could not have only economic exploitation without justice”, he  affirmed.

He said goodbye as a member of the College due to his new mission in the Judiciary of the State of Maranhão, where he will assume the presidency of the Court of Justice of that state, the Judge thanked the opportunity to participate in the CCOGE. "I am saying goodbye to this College, missing it very much, and I would like to thank everyone. This was a unique experience that I will carry with me forever. I was able to meet the best magistrates, I got to know many colleagues, even though most of them virtually. I am sure that we are in a forum of vocational people and for me it was a permanent learning experience," he recalled.
