"The more access to education and knowledge, the greater the enforcement of Human Rights", says a speaker at the closing of the congress at TJTO

The panel on “Education, Technology and Human Rights in the post-pandemic” marked the closing of the XIV International Congresso n Human Rights, this Friday afternoon (October 21st), in the auditorium of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO).

One of the lecturers, Karine Salgado, PhD in Law from the Federal University of the State of Minas Gerais (UFMG), addressed the challenges of understanding and knowing human rights.

"The more access to education and knowledge, the greater the enforcement of human rights”, she highlighted, in the lecture that ended the event, promoted by TJTO, Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) and Federal University of the State of Tocantins (UFT).

She spoke about technological advances, school space, and education beyond the classroom as some of the paths to education for the enforcement of human rights: Improvements in education; networks and language; engagement of the institutions and society; and technology are, for her, important points in the process of social transformation.

 

Rights must be respected

In her speech, the Doctor addressed that the biggest challenge today is that of “acting”. “It is necessary to enforce the rights. It is not only the State that holds the rights. It is our responsibility too. It is necessary to respect the rights of those who are next to me,” she cited, as she detailed the difficulties of education in the pandemic and the fragility of human rights in the pandemic scenario.

 

Chaotics Situation

Another participant of the panel was Luciana Backes, PhD in education from Unisinos and Sciences of I’Education from the Université Lumiére Lyon. She addressed, among other topics, the chaotic situation in the field of education in the midst of the pandemic and in the post-pandemic. “A period of many uncertainties”, she said, while presenting a scenario of difficulties of access to the virtual world by a large part of the population. Other aspects approached were the changes in education after the pandemic.

 

Tribute

Mediator of the panel, the Doctor in philosophy from the University of Paris, Antônio Carlos dos Santos, before the debate, was awarded the medal of academic merit, presented by Justice Ângela Issa Haonat.
