
The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) is accepting applications for the course on “Who wants/can be black in Brazil? Positive discrimination and the need for racial hetero-identification commissions.” The course will take place from August 6th to 12th, in a hybrid format, with a total of 20 class hours.
The course was requested and it will be coordinated by Judge Arióstenis Guimarães Vieira, with the aim of training magistrates and civil servers to ensure the effectiveness of affirmative action in public competitions held by the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins, as established by the Resolution No. 541 of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) of 2023.
The programming includes content on the historical and social foundations of affirmative action, quota policies, structural and institutional racism, and the technical and legal aspects that guide the work of racial hetero-identification commissions.
The activities are led by Professor Rodrigo Ednilson de Jesus, an expert on the subject, PhD in Education, and author of reference works on racial identity in Brazil.
The course includes a virtual orientation phase and in-person activities at Esmat in the city of Palmas. A total of 50 places are available, distributed among magistrates and civil servers of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins.
