With a 36-hour class load, the course on Introductory Notions on the Protocol for Special Testimony in Family Lawsuits, promoted by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), had its last web class on July 7th.
Developed entirely in virtual format, the training brought together magistrates, civil servers trained in Pedagogy, Psychology, Social Work, trainees from the Multidisciplinary Team Management Group (GGEM) and members of the Working Group responsible for implementing the Protocol in the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO).
The aim of the course was to present fundamental notions about the rite of special testimony in family proceedings, as well as to offer theoretical, legal and practical support to qualify the work of teams dealing with sensitive demands involving children and adolescents.
Divided into five modules, it was attended by facilitators Rita di Cássia Bella Bartok Marques Arantes, Izabella Ferreira dos Santos, Hélvia Túlia Sandes Pedreira, Márcia Mesquita Vieira and Nágila Olimpio Duarte de Sousa Esclavazini.
In a statement, Aurivania de Paula Carvalho, a social worker accredited by GGEM in the District of Miracema do Tocantins, commented on the relevance of the topic and the competence of the professionals who led the activities.
“The course was excellent, the subject matter exceptional and the learning facilitators outstanding. The relevance to the work of the accredited professionals of GGEM is extreme, since the training qualifies the professional to act more and more in order to perform their role with quality, ethics and respect, always seeking to exceed the demands placed on them. It is extremely important to look at children and adolescents in the family court, because the conflict that perpetuates between their parents can affect them in some way," she said.
Eliane Cristina Costa de Oliveira, a social worker and coordinator of the Institutional and Family Reception Project at GGEM, stressed that the training was necessary and pertinent to the understanding of the cycle of the service and the care provided to the Court and the public, as well as contributing to an understanding of the work processes of GGEM and the application of the Protocol for Special Testimony.
Edivalda Pinto de Paiva, a pedagogue, also emphasized the importance of the course by revisiting content that was already part of her professional career. Recalling her previous experience with GGEM, she explained that her contact with the Special Testimony Protocol began in 2016, when she worked as an accredited professional with the group.
“When I was appointed to work at the District Court of Natividade, the work carried out by GGEM and the Special Testimony Protocol were already familiar to me, since I was accredited with GGEM from 2016 until June of 2022 (the date of my assignment), working as a pedagogue,” she said.
According to Edivalda, over the years, different training and courses have contributed significantly to her performance in special testimony hearings.
“I believe that the experience I've gained over the years working with GGEM, together with the training I've received on the course, can only contribute significantly to the execution of my daily activities, improving my professional performance and strengthening the child and adolescent protection network," she added.
