Judiciary Of The State Of Tocantins Highlights Importance Of Memory Management In Course Promoted By Esmat

The course on "Practices in Memory Management: Document Preservation and Dissemination of the History of Justice", developed by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), began on Monday (June 17th) with the participation of more than eighty students.

During the opening ceremony, Justice Ângela Prudente, in her capacity as President of the Permanent Commission for Documentary Assessment (CPAD) and the Commission for Memory Management (CGM), emphasized the importance of the course, stating that memory is a key element in the process.

"a theme that inspires, enthuses and excites us because looking at our memory transcends the desire to understand our roots, connecting us with the past, enriching our present and guiding our future."

According to Justice Ângela, the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) has already progressed in memory management, with the approval of the Resolutions No. 1 and No. 2 of 2022, which establish the Memory Management Policy and the Document Management Policy.

"We continue to be guided by the principles and guidelines of this national policy. This year we approved the classification plan and the temporality tables for the administrative and judicial areas of our Court, taking an important step towards efficient document management and the preservation of institutional memory," she said.

The first virtual meeting of the course, given by Mônica Maria de Pádua Souto da Cunha, PhD in History, dealt with the concept of memory and the legislation applied to the management of the memory of the Judiciary. According to the Professor, "the first day of the course was very fruitful and the students interacted with each other, contributing to the exchange of experiences on the subject".

Gabriella Monteiro Valadares Azevedo, an employee of the criminal court of the city of Ponte Alta do Tocantins, interacted during the initial presentation:

"When we talk about memory, the word rescue comes to mind, I think that's what this course is about, we're trying to rescue the memories of the court and take them with us."

In addition to civil servers from the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins and from partner bodies of Esmat, the training also has the participation of students from various States, such as Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Amapá, Maranhão, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Sul, Pernambuco, São Paulo, Goiás, Alagoas and Pará, revealing the relevance of the course on the national scene.

The 15-hour course aims to prepare participants with theoretical and practical knowledge about institutional memory management, with a view to preserve, organize and disseminate historical documents related to the judiciary. The activities continue until June 25th.
