Judges and advisors from the judiciary of the state of Tocantins participate in the second day of the course on techniques for producing oral evidence

On the second day of the course on Techniques for Producing Oral Evidence, held on Tuesday morning (11th), magistrates and advisors from the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins had the opportunity to improve their skills in producing oral evidence in legal proceedings. The course, which is given by the psychologist Carlos Mendes Rosa and Judge Tiago Gagliano Pinto Alberto, seeks to provide the participants with a set of methods to obtain a better collaboration from the deponents.

According to Judge Jossanner Nery Nogueira, holder of the Specialized Court to Combat Violence Against Women and Crimes Against Life in the County of Gurupi, the course is extremely useful for the analysis of the testimonies in the justice system. Jossanner congratulated Esmat for offering the course again, "contributing significantly to the improvement of civil servers and magistrates in our Court", he said.

According to Professor Carlos, one of the points discussed on this second day of the course was the issue of memory and how false memories can be produced, which can damage the obtaining of reliable evidence.

"We worked on some issues related to language and the different ways of expressing the fact, thinking that the testimony is linked to the sequence of perceiving the fact, storing it in the memory, later recovering this memory, and expressing this memory through language. In this way there are several issues that make the process very complex. We worked all the way through this testimony, and we had some reflections, discussions with magistrates, defenders, public servers, and it was very interesting, very, very stimulating", he explained.

The training, which was accredited by the National School for Training and Improvement of Magistrates (ENFAM), ends its activities tomorrow (12th).
