TJTO Celebrates Day Of Justice With The Exhibition On "Silenced Voices" At Capim Dourado Shopping Mall, In The City Of Palmas, From December 6th To 8th

The Itinerant Exhibition on "Silenced Voices – Struggle of Paula for freedom", promoted by the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), will be in the city of Palmas, from December  6th to 8th, at Capim Dourado Shopping Mall. Open to the public, the show has already passed through the cities of Araguaína and Gurupi and it integrates the celebrations of the Day of Justice.

Held by the Commissions for Memory and Documentary Management of the TJTO, in partnership with the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), the exhibition reconstructs the trajectory of Paula, a black and enslaved woman who, in 1858, in the territory where today it stands the municipality of Paranã, faced the slave system and legally won her freedom.

"This exhibition invites us to reflect on the wounds left by slavery and, above all, to strengthen our institutional performance in the promotion of dignity, equality and memory as a living heritage of citizenship," says the president of the TJTO Maysa Vendramini Rosal.

The initiative is aligned with the guidelines of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the National Program for Document Management and Memory of the Judiciary (Proname), strengthening institutional actions that recognize the struggles for freedom, dignity and inclusion.

The exhibition also causes the visitor to critically revisit the past, understand its marks and broaden understanding of the importance of collective memory as an instrument of individual, social and institutional transformation.

Judicial ombudsman

The Judicial Ombudsman of the TJTO will also be present during the exhibition days, with direct service to the public, receiving suggestions, demonstrations, reports and questions. Participation reinforces the policy of rapprochement with society and keeps alive the commitment to offer an open, accessible and effective dialogue channel between the citizen and the Judiciary.

Day of Justice

The Day of Justice, celebrated on December 8th, was instituted in Brazil by the Decree No 8292 of December 10th, 1945, with the purpose of honoring the Judiciary and recognizing its relevance to society. The date seeks to value the performance of magistrate, civil servers and other agents that contribute to the guarantee of rights, social pacification and strengthening of the Democratic State of Law.

The choice of December 8th also has a historical relationship with Brazilian cultural traditions, coinciding with the celebration of Our Lady of Conceição, symbol of protection and justice in several regions of the country, which contributed to consolidate the date on the national calendar.
