“Without books, it is difficult to learn how to enjoy reading.” The quote by Ruth Rocha welcomes the new Reading Station, a project launched by the Library of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) last week. The initiative occupies a special space on each floor of the School, with the aim of encouraging the habit of reading among staff, students, professors, and collaborators.

The proposal is simple: pick up a book, read it there or take it home. Then return it or leave another one in exchange. “This bookshelf belongs to everyone, made to spread stories and inspiration,” summarizes the project poster. Librarian Silvânia Olortegui, creator of the Reading Station, points out that the space was designed as a practical and affectionate way to promote access to books. “We want to encourage reading in the daily life of Esmat, bringing books closer to people in a natural, accessible, and free way,” she said.

During the launch, the executive director of the School, Ana Beatriz de Oliveira Pretto, celebrated the initiative.

“I think this station is really cool. Esmat has a mission to try spreading knowledge in all ways, and this is one of the oldest and most effective ways," she commented.

The Reading Station is now open in the school hallways. Just come by, choose a book, and dive in.
