The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) launches the 31st edition of ESMAT, an interdisciplinary scientific journal linked to the Doctoral and Master’s Program in Judicial Provision and Human Rights (UFT/ESMAT). The new edition continues the editorial effort of dissemination of legal and multidisciplinary knowledge and pays tribute to the four matriarchs that inspire the history and name of the city of Dianópolis: the "Custodianas".
The tribute highlights the civilizing strength of these women, pillars of education, culture and solidarity, recognizing their influence on the social memory and historical fabric of the city of Dianópolis, a city whose own name reverence their trajectories:
Custodiana Leal Rodrigues (1897-1985) – Teacher, educator and administrator; devoted to the Immaculate Conception. Widow at the age of 29, raised eight children and actively participated in social and political events in the city of Dianópolis.
Custodiana Costa Aires (1902-1995) – Together with her husband, she founded the João d'Abreu School, a regional reference that brought together more than 2,000 students in three shifts, decisively contributing to the formation of generations in the southeastern of the state of Tocantins.
Custodiana Wolney Póvoa (1902-1970) – Teacher, educator and cultural activist. Religious, dedicated to the catechesis of children and acted in community care during the smallpox epidemic, saving lives in a context of extreme vulnerability.
Custodiana Nepomuceno Wolney Araújo (1904-1979) – Catholic of the Apostolate of Pray, encouraging education and community life. Donated land to João d'Abreu School and supported educational initiatives (current headquarters of Unitins (State University of Tocantins)), as well as being remembered for her hospitality and charitable actions.
