Former Employee Of The Tjto Stands Out Nationally For Innovative Mentoring Program In Superior Education

Before becoming a reference in leadership training and human development, Nélio Póvoa worked as a judicial technician at the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) for nine years, between 2004 and 2013, at the Forum of the District of Palmas. Today, he is head of People and Culture and coordinator of the mentoring program at Belavista College, an institution that has gained prominence by investing in personalized strategies to prepare students for the challenges of the job market.

The program, structured around 15 behavioral competencies, such as focus management, emotional balance and critical thinking, has inspired positive reports from students and partner companies, and it was featured in an Estadão report.

“Mentoring helps students understand that work is not just a means of making a living, but also of building an identity and serving society. To prepare them for this is to train not just good professionals, but better people," says Nélio, who also stresses the importance of aligning academic expectations with market demands.

Summit Belavista, the name given to the development journey, has stages that accompany the student from preparation for university life to entry into the market and support at the start of their career. The model was inspired by international experiences, such as those developed at the University of Oxford in the UK and the University of Navarra in Spain.

For the former employee of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins, attention to socio-emotional skills is no longer a differential and it has become a basic requirement in the contemporary professional environment. "We are living in a time when behavior is no longer a differential and it has become a basic requirement. Companies are rediscovering that technique can be taught relatively easily, but posture, empathy and maturity require monitoring, reflection and training time," he points out.
