
In recognition of his contribution to legal education, scientific research and the modernization of Brazilian Justice, the minister of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), Sérgio Luiz Kukina, was awarded the “Doctor Feliciano Machado Braga” Medal of Academic Merit.
The honor was awarded by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) and presented by the general director, Justice Marco Villas Boas this Friday (27th), the date of the 1st State Meeting on Precedents and Collective Actions of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins.
For Justice Marco Villas Boas, awarding the medal to Minister Sérgio Kukina is an honor for Esmat.
“Minister Kukina symbolizes the commitment to a Judiciary that is responsible, technical and sensitive to social change. His work at the Superior Court of Justice strengthens the ideal of a Judiciary that is more accessible, predictable and committed to fundamental rights," he said.

The “Doctor Feliciano Machado Braga” Academic Merit Medal represents the highest academic distinction of Esmat and it honors personalities who stand out in promoting legal knowledge, strengthening democratic institutions and spreading the values that sustain justice and fundamental rights.
