The conservation of historical documents of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins was the subject of a meeting held on Wednesday (May 21st) between representatives of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) and the Federal University of the state of Tocantins (UFT).
The meeting was attended by Justice Maysa Vendramini Rosal, president of the TJTO; Justice Ângela Prudente, president of the Document Management Commission (Cojud) and the Permanent Commission on Document Evaluation (CPAD); and Professors Ricardo Martins Spindola Diniz and Adriana Demite Stephani, from the Campus of Arraias. On the occasion, a possible partnership was discussed between the institutions to strengthen actions to preserve historical judicial collections that are currently in the custody of the university.
Since 2014, the Campus of UFT in the city of Arraias has been responsible for the custody of court records dating from the 18th century to the mid-1960s, from the municipalities of Arraias and Dianópolis. The material, which is being catalogued, is used as a source of academic research, especially by Law students.
The proposal is in line with the guidelines of the Resolution No. 324 of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), of June 30th, 2020, which establishes rules for Memory and Document Management within the Judiciary. The regulation also establishes the National Program for Document Management and Memory of the Judiciary (Proname), which objective is to preserve and enhance the historical and institutional heritage of the Brazilian Judiciary.
In the state of Tocantins, the TJTO has already begun the process of structuring the Center for Judiciary Memory, with the support of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), in accordance with the guidelines of the CNJ.
