
In a speech at his tenure on Monday 3rd, the new chief justice of the state of Tocantins, Justice Pedro Nelson Coutinho, announced the auxiliary judges who will make up his team: Marcelo Laurito Paro and Manuel de Faria Reis Neto. Justice Adolfo Amaro Mendes was also sworn in as deputy chief justice.
Justice Pedro Nelson Coutinho made a point of thanking the magistrates for accepting his invitation. In the General Internal Affairs of Justice of the State of Tocantins (CGJUS-TO), the judges will assist the chief justice in his duties, as established in the Resolution 8/21 of the CGJUS, during the 2025-2027 biennium. The work will be aimed at improving the working conditions of judges and civil servers, as well as seeking greater efficiency in the provision of services by the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins.
Marcelo Laurito Paro
Judge Marcelo Laurito Paro was born on November 12th, 1977, in the city of São José do Rio Preto (SP). He has a post-doctorate and a doctorate in Regional Development from the Federal University of the state of Tocantins; a master's degree in Judicial Provision and Human Rights from the Federal University of the state of Tocantins; and a specialist degree in Criminology and Criminal Sciences from the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins. Graduated in Law from the Law School of the city of São Bernardo do Campo (SP), he is a judge on the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins. He was a substitute judge in the district of Natividade, titular in the district of Ponte Alta, promoted to the district of Colmeia and to the 2nd Civil Court of the district of Colinas do Tocantins, where he has been since 2013.
Manuel de Faria Reis Neto
Judge Manuel de Faria Reis Neto is from the city of Goiânia, where he was born on December 19th, 1980. He graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of the state of Goiás (PUC-GO) and he has been a judge since April 3rd, 2008. He was a judge in the Courts of Araguacema, Palmeirópolis, Dianopolis and is currently the judge of the 1st Civil Court of the district of Guarai. He holds a master's degree from the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat). He was already an assistant judge to the Presidency of the TJTO in the 2021/22 biennium. In the last two-year term, he acted as a precatory payments manager and coordinated the NACOM - Support Center for the Courts (NACOM) and the Intelligence Center of the Precedent Management Center (CINUGEP).
