District Of Alvorada Promotes “Literary Corner” To Collect Books

With the aim of promoting actions aimed at sustainability and accessibility policies within the Judiciary, the District of Alvorada, in the south of the State, is promoting the first edition of the project on “Literary Corner” in October to collect books for the library of the Penal Unit of Women of the city of Talismã. Donations can be made until October 31st at the headquarters of the Forum.

The donation of books to the Penal Unit of Women of the city of Talismã is a way of encouraging the reading of books, since it is one of the three activities (regular education - when it takes place in prison schools - non-school educational practices and reading) that can reduce the sentence of a prisoner, through remission, according to the Penal Execution Law.

In November, the District held the “Weaving Dreams”, with the aim of collecting crochet thread and twine, which will go to the Weaving Freedom project, run by the Penal Unit of Women of the city of Talismã.

The actions follow the Sustainable Logistics Plan of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins, observing the provisions of the Resolution No. 400 of June 16th, 2021 and the Resolution No. 401 of June 16th, 2021. The District of Alvorada also covers the municipality of Talismã.

September of love

The “September of Love” campaign will continue until September 30th, with the aim of collecting can seals and pet bottle caps, which will be donated to the Hospital of Love of the city of Palmas. As of Monday (September 24th), 35.6 kg had been donated (26.6 kg of bottle caps and 9 kg of bottle seals). The expectation is that this will surpass the campaign of 2023, where 70 kg were collected.  In this project, the district has the support of municipal and state schools and the Association of volunteers of the Hospital of Love.

Sustainable Alvorada

Another action of the District is the Sustainable Alvorada, which opened the programming of the Environmental June of 2024 with the donation of 250 kg of bottle caps and seals to the Hospital of Love. The project is part of the Solidarity Selective Collection Program, implemented in the District in 2021, designed to help implement the socio-environmental responsibility policy established by the Resolution No. 400/2021 of the CNJ and the Sustainable Logistics Plan of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins.
