It is with deep regret that the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) mourns the death of Daniel Koxini Karajá, a leader of the Iny/karajá people. His exemplary struggle, dedicated to the defense of the indigenous rights and culture, leaves an irreparable void in our hearts.
Daniel was a voice in the struggle to preserve indigenous lands, protect the environment and value the ancestral wisdom of his people. His departure leaves not only a gap in his community, but also a legacy of courage and commitment that will continue to inspire future generations of the traditional indigenous peoples of the State of Tocantins. At this time of pain and longing, we offer our sincere condolences to his family, friends and all the members of his community.
