Esmat And Copedem Seek Training Partnerships In Environmental Justice

With the objective of promoting legal improvement by promoting the participation of magistrates in academic events on the environmental theme and the international conjuncture on the subject, the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of Magistracy (COPEDEM) and the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) made a technical visit in the city of São Paulo at the Institute "The Law for a Green Planet". On the occasion, Justice Marco Villas Boas, President of Copedem and General Director of Esmat, was received by Professor Patrícia Faga Iglecias Lemos, President of the entity.

Among the objectives of the meeting are the elaboration of joint activities that promote the academic updating of magistrates and civil servers with a view to legal updating on the environmental issue, as well as the publication of articles, participation in seminars.

About the Institute 

The "Law for a Green Planet" Institute is a non-profit organization that works to research, improve and consolidate environmental legislation. Bringing together renowned specialists in Environmental Law, the Institute participates in the drafting of laws and regulations that are being processed in the National Congress and in the National Environmental Council (CONAMA), of which it is a counselor. In carrying out these activities, the Institute aims to defend the environment, biodiversity and the rights of indigenous peoples, especially those in equatorial areas.

Through its initiatives, the entity is recognized nationally and internationally in the construction of a more coherent, elaborate and capacitated Law in the defense of the environment. Professionals from various areas who are part of its team work voluntarily. The Institute "The Law for a Green Planet" promotes one of the largest congresses of Environmental Law in the Continent, the International Congress of Environmental Law, in the city of São Paulo, where its headquarters is located, in addition to the Brazilian Congress of Environmental Law, a reference event in the area.
