Master's degree in judicial provision and human rights (ESMAT/UFT) will form magistrates in the state of Acre

Through an academic partnership, the University of the State of Tocantins Foundation (UFT), the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), the Foundation for Scientific and Technological Support of the State of Tocantins (FAPTO), the Court of Justice of the State of Acre (TJAC) and the Judiciary School of the State of Acre (ESJUD/AC) signed an agreement to hold a class in the Post-Graduation Program in Judicial Provision and Human Rights (PPGPJDH) "off-site", where 20 magistrates from the State of Acre will be qualified.

The selection process begins in May, and classes are scheduled to begin in August 2023, in the face-to-face modality, in the city of Rio Branco-AC. The PPGPJDH is currently in its 10th class; it has already graduated 229 students and it has 53 others in training.

According to Justice Etelvina Maria Sampaio Felipe, president of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), this is a very important moment that reflects the evolution of Esmat in the process of training Judges, public servers, other partner agencies, and members of society in general in the Stricto Sensu post-graduate qualification. "I am immensely happy with this partnership. This is a unique moment in which Esmat, together with UFT, is exporting knowledge beyond the academic environment of the State of Tocantins. All this is the result of the brilliant work of Justice Marco Villas Boas at Esmat," she said.

For Justice Marco Villas Boas, General Director of Esmat and President of the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of Magistracy, the partnership will be able to encourage the production of academic studies related to biodiversity, and legal issues related to the Environment.

"This is an important moment in the sharing of knowledge, because we are at the same level as the other research centers focused on the improvement of the Justice System, which counts on international cooperation events, which allows us to exchange research in several parts of the Planet", he argued.

Academy

For Justice Regina Ferrari, president of TJAC, the partnership will break geographical and environmental barriers. "The gratitude for this partnership is based on two matrices: joy and the expansion of knowledge, which leaves the borders of the cerrado biome and will share knowledge to the extreme northern region of Brazil. We are thrilled with this partnership of the School and UFT with our State", she emphasized.

Justice Élcio Mendes, Director of the Judiciary School of the State of Acre (ESJUD/AC) reinforced the consideration of Justice Marco Villas Boas, General Director of Esmat. "I would like to emphasize the zeal of the Justice in the negotiations to attend our State of Acre, with emphasis on the Judiciary providing a Master's degree to the Judges of that location. It will be the first class of Judges from our State to be attended in this field", he emphasized.

For the rector of UFT, Luís Eduardo Bovolato, the partnership between the service sector and the academy is extremely important for conducting the research that has an impact on improving the services provided to society. "It is important to emphasize," said the UFT rector, "that projects like this master's degree that is now being extended to the school in the State of Acre need to be triggered also by the other state powers and by the Stricto Sensu programs of UFT. Our institutions have as a perspective the development of research that promotes regional development (both in economic, social and scientific aspects) and, today, especially the development of institutions that are part of the Amazon region", he reinforced.
