IEES and Copedem make available the book "Judicialization of Health Plans: concepts, disputes and consequences

The Institute for Supplementary Health Studies (IESS), in partnership with the Permanent College of Directors of Schools of the Judges (COPEDEM), has just launched the book "Judicialization of Health Plans: concepts, disputes and consequences". The publication has 20 renowned authors dedicated to understanding the causes, challenges and adversities that make supplementary health a focus of judicial demands.

The title seeks, through 17 articles, to debate the new mechanisms of access to the Judiciary, besides concentrating efforts to understand the causes of legal controversies, ways to solve conflicts, and how this trend of increasing judicialization impacts on the existence and sustainability of the sector.

Among the topics covered are judicial activism, private health care plans, reimbursements to the SUS and collection of charges, judicial action and interpretation of contracts, justice and the right to health, and several others - all in the midst of the new reality imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The work reinforces the IESS' mission to be an agent for promoting the sector's sustainability by producing knowledge and improving the information upon which decisions are made.
