The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) launched on the morning of Wednesday (27th) the registration for the Lato Sensu postgraduate course in Strategic Legal Communication in the Digital Age, in partnership with the Social Communication Center of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins. With a course load of 375 hours, the course is scheduled to Begin on November 9th 2021, with the máster class “Right to information versus Right to privacy”, taught by the renowed journalist Carlos Alberto Di Franco.

In all, 50 vacancies are being offered to male and female employees of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins and male and female employees of Esmat’s partner bodies (State Attorney General’s Office, State Prosecutor’s Office, State Audit Court, Public Defender’s Office, Regional Electoral Court, Federal Court, Brazilian Bar Association/Tocantins Sectional, State University of the State of Tocantins and Federal University of the State of Tocantins, State Executive Branch – Government of the State of Tocantins – Araguaia Palace – and Municipal Executive Branch – Palmas City Hall), with a degree in social communication and its qualifications and work in social communication and its qualifications; and journalists graduated in social communication, working and linked to the press vehicles of the State of Tocantins and the Journalists’ Union.

For the General Director of Esmat, Judge Marco Villas Boas, this proposal for the creation of a post-graduation course in the area of social communication linked to the legal area will serve as a backing, an institutional support from the whole class for what we have already started and which will unfold because it will not remain only in this post-graduation course. This course has been embryonic in the Superior Scholl of the Judges of the State of Tocantins for a few years, we have held some events in the past and from there we started to think about an interlocution of something bigger with the communication channels, especially journalists, aware that it is difficult to understand the Judiciary’s activity, which is highly specialized”, he affirmed. Also according to the judge, by counting on a network of institutional teaching partnerships in the legal environment of national and foreign renown, Esmat will be able to assist in the indication and disclosure of the final products and academic projects resulting from the unprecedent post-graduation in the State of Tocantins.

According to the doctoral professor and coordinator of the post-graduation course, Valdirene Cássia, the course was conceived in the active learning method under the methodology of problem-based learning, which aims to build conceptual learning through current issues proposed by the faculty, analyzing the facts and seeking solution mechanisms. “We look at the fact, analyze its consequences, and look for mechanisms to minimize and solve conflicts that are easily applicable.” he said.

For the president of the Union of Professional Journalists of the State of Tocantins (SINDJOR), journalist and Master in Communication Alessandra Bacelar, the post-graduation will promote a differentiated qualification to the professionals of the press and advisory services of the State of Tocantins, regarding the coverage and understanding of the performance of the Brazilian judiciary. “It is a theme that needs deepening and understanding. For us journalists, besides promoting the Professional qualification in an academic entity with large experience in training as Esmat, it will be able to extend the Professional career of dozens of co-workers. We congratulate in advance the initiative of the Court of Justice, the Esmat in person of the Judge Marco Villas Boas, and we are very grateful to Sebastião Pinheiro and Professor Valdirene Cássia for their commitment in formatting this valuable graduate program. We take advantage of this and have already requested the elaboartion of a master’s degree, a doctorate, who knows, as a follow-up to this important course”, he emphasized.

About the course

The course intends to enable the updating of communication professionals with a solid strategic vision with the ability to analyze the demands of the judicial system and propose innovative integrated solutions, focusing on the organizational objectives, its image and reputation. The courses will be composed of distance activities, developed in the Virtual Learning Environment, with a percentage of up to 20% of the course, and face-to-face activities, with a percentage of 80%, both mandatory.

Among the program content are the following subjects: Teaching and Research Methods; Digital Portfolio Production; Communication and Digital Convergence; Communication as a Strategic Factor in the Judiciary; Integrated Communication in the Image Building Processo f the Judiciary; Risk Management and Crisis Management in the Digital Media; Strategic Planning for Corporate Communication; Endomarketing, among others.

The registrations will be made by indication in the specific SEI Process and then validated by the Esmat's Academic Secretary.
