The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) held on Tuesday (September 24th), the lecture on "The Protagonism of Self-Care in Strengthening Mental Health", led by Professor and Psychoanalyst Maria Livia Tourinho Moretto, from the University of the State of São Paulo (USP). The activity is part of the Yellow September campaign and it focuses on suicide prevention, valuing life and strengthening mental health within the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins.

The meeting took place in the auditorium of Esmat, in the city of Palmas, with live broadcast to the regions of the interior, bringing together magistrates, civil servers, trainees, employees, other members of the judicial community and the general public. The proposal is to create a space for open dialogue, in which mental health is no longer treated as a taboo and now occupies a central place in individual and collective care practices.

Throughout the lecture, reflection focused on the importance of self-care as a tool for preserving quality of life, early identification of warning signs and encouragement to seek specialized help.

“Speaking is a preventive act. When we open space to express suffering, we take the first step to transform it. Suffering needs to be recognized, welcomed and treated with responsibility and care", said Psychoanalyst Maria Livia Tourinho.

The initiative also seeks to offer subsidies so that each participant feels able to support people at risk, understanding active listening and acceptance as fundamental attitudes for the promotion of mental health.

For the psychology student, Fabrícia Cirqueira Mota, events like this are essential. "Show ways to recognize signs of fatigue and stress, in addition to encouraging the search for help", points out.

Napsi

Created in 2020, the Psychosocial Reception and Monitoring Center (Napsi) is a pioneering service among courts in the country. More than treating illnesses, the center acts in the prevention and promotion of mental health, helping magistrates and civil servers to recognize their limits, re-signify their pains and discover possible ways for emotional balance.

"Events like this are relevant not only to magistrates and civil servers, but also to the general public, reinforcing the need to discuss mental health in a broad way. More than numbers, it is essential to understand the causes of illness in society and develop prevention strategies. Initiatives such as this meet the demands of the CNJ and senior management, strengthening care and prevention actions within the court", explained the psychiatrist of the Center, Wordney Carvalho Camarço.
