The II week for the prevention of moral harassment and combat to discrimination at work within the judiciary is held with lectures by experts

On Thursday afternoon (May 4th), the event of the II Week of Prevention of Bullying and Combating to Discrimination at Work within the Judiciary was held, with the presence of Judge Odete Dias Almeida, president of the Association of Judges of the State of Tocantins (ASMETO), and Justice Angela Issa Hanoat, president of the Commission for Prevention and Confrontation of Bullying and Sexual Harassment of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins.

During the opening of the event, Justice Angela Issa Hanoat expressed her gratitude for the trust in the nomination and highlighted the importance of the Resolution 351 of the National Council of Justice, which instituted the policy of prevention and combat to moral and sexual harassment, besides all forms of discrimination in the Judiciary. She emphasized that this initiative aims to promote a dignified, healthy, safe, and sustainable work environment for magistrates, public servers, interns, and collaborators, covering acts practiced in the face-to-face and virtual work environment, and that the Prevention of Harassment and Combat to Discrimination at Work Week, instituted by the Resolution nº 450, in April 2022, is another initiative to accomplish the objectives of the UN's Agenda 2030.

"I'd like to say that here in the Court this week, besides the Resolution, of course, we from the Commission are here much more for the realization of a dream, of a Court, of a Judiciary free of harassment and any kind of discrimination", she commented. The Justice also emphasized that the Commission is available so that everyone can walk together on this delicate theme, and that they dream of a work environment free of harassment.

The first lecture, entitled "Moral and sexual harassment in the world of work", was given by Judge Adriana Manta da Silva, from the Regional Labor Court of the 5th Region, and addressed elements and concepts based on the Resolution No. 351 of the National Council of Justice, 2020, and Convention No. 190 of the International Labor Organization. Judge Flávia Afini Bovo, Director of the Forum of the city of Palmas and President of the Commission for the Prevention and Confrontation of Bullying and Sexual Harassment, in the 1st level of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, coordinated the panel. In her presentation, the Judge also highlighted some historical aspects that contributed to the transformations in the world of work, such as neoliberalism.

With the theme on "Everyday attitudes that can characterize moral and sexual harassment", the second lecture was given by José Roberto Montes Heloani, PhD, Professor at Unicamp (FE/IFCH), who talked about the different forms of harassment present in the workplace and the attitudes that can characterize this type of behavior.

According to Doctor José, in order to understand what happens in the Brazilian Judiciary, it is essential to understand the role of the mass media in the country. Only then we can understand social representation, an important concept in social psychology, which involves the construction of ideas and concepts in the minds of people, based on the messages they receive. Judge Odete Dias Almeida, from the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins, acted as coordinator of the panel.
