IEES and COPEDEM promote Legal Seminar on Supplementary Health -Economic predictability in health insurance contracts

The challenges and advances in private supplementary health care were debated on Tuesday
morning (31st), through a webinar promoted by the Institute for Supplementary Health Studies
(IEES), in partnership with the Permanent College of Directors of Schools of the Judges
(COPEDEM) and the Conjur Portal (Legal Advisor) in another Legal Seminar on Supplementary
Health.

The initiative of the event was promoted through JurisHealth, IESS' platform for legal and
regulatory information on supplementary health. The meeting debated the "Economic
predictability in health insurance contracts", with the following themes: Good faith of contracts;
Price formation and adjustments; Services, coverage and access rules (mandatory coverage
list); Legal and regulatory risks; and Investment attractiveness and Contract Predictability.

The mediator was Justice Marco Villas Boas, president of Copedem, who stressed the current
situation that humanity is still facing and that affects not only public health issues, but also
economic and social ones. "I would like to highlight the importance of the theme of our legal day,
not only in the economic issue, but also in this totally unexpected situation that we are
experiencing in relation to the SARS-COV2 pandemic, which has had a profound impact on
humanity, has crossed all borders, and has put human life at risk. Evidently all this has an
impact on our lives in several dimensions, even in the economic dimension," he argued.

The virtual event counted with the lecture of minister Luis Felipe Salomão, from the Superior
Court of Justice; of the former minister of Finance Maílson da Nóbrega, and as debaters the
honourable Daniel Tostes, attorney for the National Agency of Supplementary Health (ANS),
and José Cechin, executive superintendent of the Institute of Excellence in Education and
Health (IESS).
