Registrations are open for the 5th edition of the improvement course on The Challenges of Democracy in the XXI Century, promoted by FGV Justice and the Brazil Europe Forum of Integration (Fibe), under the academic coordination of minister Luis Felipe Salomão (FGV Justice) and Doctor Professor Vitalino Canas (Fibe). The course has institutional support of the National School for Training and Improvement of Magistrates (Enfam).
In its 5th edition, the event aims to offer critical and interdisciplinary training on the contemporary challenges of democracies, with emphasis on the role of institutions and, especially, the Judiciary in preserving democratic values. The proposal includes a dialogue between the Brazilian and European contexts, with emphasis on the Portuguese experience based on topics such as comparative institutionalism, digital democracy, social inequalities, contemporary extremism and defensive democracy, counting on Brazilian and Portuguese professors of recognized academic performance.
About the course
Classes will take place from May 27th to 29th of 2026, at the University of Lisbon, in Portugal, in face-to-face format, with a total class load of 18 hours. Participation in the course is free of charge, with no tuition payment or fees. The other costs, such as travel, accommodation and food must be incurred by the participants.
Target audience
The course is intended for magistrates; members of the federal and state Prosecutions; members of the Attorney-General of the Union; public defenders from states and federals; State attorneys; municipal prosecutors and lawyers.
Registrations ntries for the selection process must be made exclusively online until April 14th, 2026.
In all, 50 places will be offered. The selection process will consider criteria such as gender equity and the relationship between the professional performance of the candidate and the course topic. The result will be disclosed on April 22nd, 2026.
