The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) achieved a historic result by obtaining the highest score (5.0) in the assessment carried out by the Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (INEP), an autonomous agency linked to the Ministry of Education, in the context of accreditation for offering Lato Sensu postgraduate courses in distance learning (EaD).
The excellent performance of Esmat was recognized by the evaluation committee, with special emphasis on the social body – professors and technical staff – and institutional management, both of which were evaluated with the highest scores. According to the INEP evaluators, “the Esmat team proved to be highly qualified both in the technical field and at the postgraduate level,” highlighting the academic and professional strength of the institution.
In terms of institutional management, the recognition was even more significant. The committee noted that “the budget is not only an accounting instrument, but also a strategic tool that reflects the pedagogical project, attesting to the competence of Esmat in planning and managing its resources effectively,” concluding that the institutional management of the School is excellent.
With the evaluation successfully completed, the distance learning accreditation process of Esmat now moves on to a final review by the Secretariat for Regulation and Supervision of Superior Education (SERES/MEC) and, subsequently, to the National Education Council, culminating in approval by the minister of Education and publication of the authorizing ordinance. This process will pave the way for the start of a new and promising phase for the School beginning in 2026.
Upon learning of the result, the general director, Justice Marco Villas Boas, emphasized that the performance achieved reflects collective work and institutional commitment.
"The dedication, spirit of cooperation, and common purpose are visible in the result we have achieved. I thank the entire Esmat team and hope that we continue to move forward, always guided by the pursuit of excellence and the strengthening of judicial provision," he commented.
This recognition reaffirms Esmat as a national benchmark in judicial education, innovation, and quality public management, further projecting its strategic role in the continuing education of magistrates and civil servers of the Judiciary.
