The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) launches, with great satisfaction, the first edition of LIIARES Journal, a scientific publication that is born in harmony with the creation of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence (LIIARES). The journal arrives as a dynamic and innovative editorial space, dedicated to the production and dissemination of knowledge that articulates Law, Technology and Innovation.
The general director of Esmat and president of Copedem, Justice Marco Villas Boas, highlighted the inspiring and transformative character of the initiative.
“LIIARES Magazine is an invitation for every researcher, each author, each reader to find here not only information, but above all inspiration to transform knowledge into innovation, and innovation into a more human, agile and accessible justice".
More than an academic journal, LIIARES Journal aims to be a strategic environment to foster fundamental debates on the responsible application of Artificial Intelligence in the public sector. The topics covered include Digital Governance, Ethics and Fundamental Rights, LGPD and Information Security, Socio-Environmental Sustainability, Technological Regulation, Generative AI and Innovation in the Provision of Judicial Services.
The scientific editor of the journal, Tarsis Barreto Oliveira, highlighted the structuring role of the journal for the advancement of knowledge applied to the Judiciary.
“LIIARES Magazine was born with a crucial mission: to strengthen scientific research applied in the Justice System, connecting innovation, knowledge and practice, transcending the purely technical debate, dedicating itself to topics that translate science into social and institutional impact".
The inaugural edition brings together 12 articles, 11 national and 1 international. Topics covered include digital sovereignty, algorithmic accountability, technological autonomy, impacts of AI at work, surveillance capitalism, data-driven public policies, social vulnerability, regulatory governance and innovation in conflict resolution methods.
With articles that explore from the decentralization of technological infrastructures and the fight against cybercrime to the use of generative AI for poverty mapping and the improvement of social policies, the Journal consolidates itself as a space for interdisciplinary dialogue and critical reflection on the ongoing digital transformation in Brazil.
The LIIARES Journal is now available in the "Publications" section of the Esmat Portal.
