The Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) published on Wednesday (October 22nd), in the Gazette of Justice, the Resolution no 26, which establishes the new paid internship program for high school and undergraduate students. The measure updates the current rules, expands the access criteria and reinforces the importance of the internship as a training space, professional experience and rapprochement between the Judiciary and the student community.
The proposal, in line with the Federal Law no 11.788 of 2008, recognizes the internship as a pedagogical instrument that contributes to the technical, behavioral and ethical development of student, respecting their condition of people in training. The main focus is to offer students a practical experience aligned with the curriculum content, allowing them to develop technical and behavioral skills in a supervised learning environment.
How will the selective process be?
The internship will be managed by the Directorate of People Management (DIGEP), responsible for overseeing the planning, selection and monitoring of activities in conjunction with educational institutions and integration agents.
The selection of candidates will be made through a public selection process, with criteria defined in specific notice. For undergraduate students, it will be necessary to be at least in the third period of the course. For high school, the requirement is to be in the second year.
The main classification criterion will be the average of the grades of the last two semesters (or the last year), being forbidden the participation of candidates with a mean lower than 6, unless the specific provision of the educational institution. Participants of the Volunteer Service Program of the TJTO may also score in the selection process, upon verification.
Commitment to equity
The Resolution also establishes affirmative policies that guarantee reservation of 5% of the places for students with disabilities and 30% for black or brown students, according to the racial self-declaration used by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). There is also a recommendation that, whenever possible, at least half of the vacancies be filled by women - cisgender, transgendered or fluid - as a way to increase the female presence in training spaces in the public sector.
Journey and benefits
The journey of internship will be 30 hours per week, with five hours daily, respecting the compatibility with school schedules. The trainees will be entitled to a scholarship and transport assistance, in addition to a 30-day recess when the internship lasts for more than one year, preferably during school holidays.
The Resolution also guarantees time off on the Day of the Trainee, celebrated nationally on August 18th, and it ensures that paid students have access to the services of the Health Center of the Court (Cesau).
Each trainee will have a supervisor appointed by the unit in which he/she is, responsible for guiding, evaluating performance and ensuring that the activities developed are in accordance with the educational objectives of the course. The formalization of the internship will be done by means of a term of commitment signed electronically by the student, the educational institution, the TJTO and, when there is one, the integration agent.
