The Judiciary of the state of Tocantins, through the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), carried out the evaluation and allocation of 2.5 tons of unserviceable electronic equipment from the old system of the educational transmission via satellite, today obsolete with the advance of internet and digital transmission.

The action is part of the reverse logistics program of the Judiciary and it complies with the guidelines of the National Solid Waste Policy (Law no 12,305 of 2010), which establishes shared responsibility for the life cycle of products and the environmentally appropriate disposal of waste. With the initiative, the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, combining environmental responsibility, administrative efficiency and social contribution.

The materials were delivered to the Institute of Nature Life, partner entity that acts in recycling and reuse of electronics. According to the president of the Institute, Cássio Ferreira, the materials will be recycled and, if available, reused.

“Part of this equipment is destined for recycling, and the other part, when still usable, is reused and donated, strengthening the entire chain from beginning to the end", he said.
